Brisbane is the capital of the State of Queensland, which occupies the north-east quadrant of Australia.  It is a very popular tourist destination, with some of the world's best beaches within an hours drive north and south, bordered by the Great Dividing Range to the West, and a launching point to the Great Barrier Reef.

Location: 
Approximately half-way up the eastern coast of Australia - 1000km's north of Sydney.  Situated at the mouth of the Brisbane River.

Population:  1.8 million

Climate: 
Sub-tropical - very humid in summer, with temperatures ranging between 20 and 28 degrees celsius.  Rainy season January to April.
